 Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director of the UC Davis Center for Integrated Computing and STEM Education (C-STEM), the C-STEM Administrative & Program Support Coordinator provides administrative and programmatic support for the C-STEM Director and the C-STEM team. Responsible for providing support for C-STEM programs such as professional development workshops, organization and implementation of major public K12 educational events such as the C-STEM Conference/Symposium/GIRL Camps and others. Delivers presentations on GIRL Camps and summer camps. Provide general administrative support, including responding to inquiries about the program, keeping track of C-STEM subscriptions, professional development, developing forms, working with flyers, scheduling, among others. Also, conduct research on K12 educational programs and topics relevant to C-STEM operation and development.

Department Description

The UC Davis Center for Integrated Computing and STEM Education (C-STEM) is housed in the UC Davis College of Engineering. C-STEM is a UC Approved Educational Preparation Program for Undergraduate Admission to all UC campuses. C-STEM has UC A-G Program Status with A-G approved rigorous courses for UC/CSU admission. The C-STEM Center aims to transform TK-12 math education with coding and robotics. The goal of the C-STEM Center is to provide computing education for all TK-12 students and develop students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills through integrated mathematics education.

In partnership with UC Riverside Extension, C-STEM provides professional development for TK-12 educators with the Computer Science Supplementary Teaching Credential Authorization. The C-STEM Center works with several hundreds of TK-12 schools with annual subscriptions with over 10,000 students nationwide using C-STEM Math and CS curriculum in their formal classroom teaching and learning.

The annual RoboPlay Competitions are culminating events for the C-STEM program partners. The C-STEM Center provides various professional developments for TK-12 teachers on integrated computing and STEM education in various regions. The C-STEM Center also organizes the Girls in Robotics Leadership (GIRL) and GIRL+ camps in the summer in different regions nationwide through the C-STEM GIRL Affiliate Program. The GIRL/GIRL+ camps are focused on motivating girls in middle/high school through peer mentoring to learn STEM concepts through a fun and exciting robotics-based GIRL/GIRL+ Camp curriculum. The Center, under the directorship of Professor Harry Cheng, has several staff, graduate and undergraduate students and collaborates working closely with numerous education, technology and industrial partners and volunteers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

·       Physical Demands: Sitting – frequently; Sit at computer for extended periods of time.

·       Lifting Requirements: Up to 25 Pounds (Light); Lift and/or maneuver boxes of files/records weighing up to 25 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

·       Work schedule, 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday in person at the UC Davis Campus.

·       Work occasional overtime, including weekends or varied hours to support special events. Occasional travel to attend meetings, conferences and events including occasional overnight travel and driving own vehicle.

·       Work with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment. Restricted vacation during peak periods.

·       Work under constant deadlines.

·       Work in a customer service-oriented team environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

·       Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Strong organizational and time management skills to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain a high-level quality work standard with attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness. Excellent organizational and administrative skills to effectively provide support to coordinate and implement C-STEM programs requiring interactions with many internal and external partners.

·       Strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills to effectively communicate and interact in a professional and collaborative manner and provide excellent customer service.

·       Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify best practices and trends and find creative solutions to conflicting situations.

·       Resilient and adaptive to constantly shifting priorities and outcomes. Awareness of diversity, equity and inclusion and its practice in the workplace.

·       Excellent grammar, editing, and proofreading skills to compose and prepare professional business correspondence, forms, and reports; attention to grammar, detail and accuracy.

·       Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom or equivalent platform, social media applications, search engines, and website platform.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

·       Demonstrated experience in providing support in the planning and coordinating logistics of meetings, training, workshops, and special events.

·       Experience with social media.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Knowledge of general accounting, business contracts/agreements, and budget.
